A vacation for the family caregivers. And a Support Home for the individual who depends on them!
Yesteryear is a very special short term housing for either assisted living or independent living care.
Allowing the permanent family/caregiver a "time out," for a vacation…or simply a day away from it all. This time off can reduce the strain and pressure they may experience while they are taking care of a person who depends upon them. This, in return, can help with family harmony.
At last, a service that has been needed for years!
We are in open enrollment for both assisted living and independent living care.
Yesteryear is owned and managed by myself, Kathy, and my Husband, Larry, We both have individual experience in the fields of Senior Care, and everyday living skills. We are both retired and devote ourselves in this field.
Be sure and go to yesteryearretreat.com. There you will find a very detailed website. You can also give me a call at 254-859-5669 or 254-304-0543.
Looking forward to talking with you, and having a pleasant association in the future.
Sincerely,
Kathy Campbell Real

Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
For many years in social work about 25. We are in open enrollment for 2010 summer. When filled we will have a grand opening.
What is your primary product or service?
(1) Assisted Living Care
(2) Independent Living Care
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
A significant component of my life (Kathy) has been dedicated in helping others. I can genuinely say I receive gratification by assisting others and by being aware of their difficulties and concerns. Then I find a way to help relieve their problems. It is my way of life, something inherent in me to be a comforting, nurturing person. “It is my niche.”
Most of my life has been centered around social work. I achieved a certified nurses aid license while working at a nursing home. And each year for 11 years I was required to take courses consisting of medication supervision, CPR, first aid, privacy rights, ethics, and so forth at MHMR.
My husband, Larry, pretty much has the same background. We have worked together on jobs such as group homes for mentally challenged adults, and assisted living for senior citizens. We also owned business such as a bait and tackle shop. We liked that a lot because fishermen that are not happy soon will be.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Yesteryear is the only one in the world! That offers a special respite with the combination of housing, supportive service, personal assistance, and a dream like vista nestled in a glorious two acre botanical garden. It is safe to say we are the only one like this in the world!
Yesteryear also offers an around-the-clock caregiver for those in need of help with daily activities. When needed, we specialize in tasks that include bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, and walking (ambulatory.)
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
One location because of our novelty Yesteryear is nestled witin a two acre garden that has taken 15 years to create and a one-on-one caregiver.
